Character

The Philadelphia Flyers pulled off a feat of titanic proportions last night.

Coming back from a three games to none deficit, they eliminated the Boston Bruins from the NHL playoffs with a 4-3 win on enemy ice after falling behind 3-0 in the first period.

In 1983 the Philadelphia Stars were trailing 38-17 to George Allen's Chicago Blitz in the 4th quarter of the opening round of the USFL playoffs, and came back to defeat them 44-38 in overtime.

Both teams exhibited a characteristic that will provide them benefits long after their skates have been put away and the cleats are hung in the locker....character.

When you believe in yourself and your teammates and are willing to work hard and prepare....there is almost no obstacle too high to hurdle or too difficult to overcome.

Congratulations to Chairman Ed Snider, Coach Peter Laviolette and the entire Flyer organization. With the lesson you've provided, you have done something far more important than just win a hockey series.
